Gajah Mada is a legendary engineering commander in Rise of Kingdoms with Versatility, Defense, and Engineering talent trees. Gajah Mada is not a great or strong hero when compared to other commanders. The problem is that you have to use siege units, which require a lot of micromanagement and specific fighting strategies.

Should you invest in the Gajah Mada?

No, you should not invest in Gajah Mada, whether you are free-to-play or pay-to-win. There are several reasons why we do not recommend using your legendary commander sculptures on him. Gajah Mada is a commander that uses siege units for ranged attacks, which are not very effective. To make ranged attacks work, you need a high level of skill and micromanagement. Additionally, you cannot swarm objectives with siege units.

Another reason is that you need to craft engineering equipment, which can be quite expensive to upgrade to a decent level. Moreover, many kingdoms do not allow training siege units because they aim to reduce power to attract more players and achieve easier KVK matches.

Perhaps in the future, ranged units and siege mechanics will be improved, but for now, skip Gajah Mada and save your legendary commander sculptures. You will get far more value by investing in cavalry or infantry commanders.

Gajah Mada Pairings

Gonzalo de Cordoba is the best commander that you can pair with Gajah Mada. Together they have great synergy and a lot of smite damage. If you do not have Gonzalo de Cordoba the only other option is Margaret. Margaret paired with Gajah Mada is decent but there is nothing special that will dominate. Do not use other commanders that are in the Rise of Kingdoms because they are not designed for range attacks and siege units.
