In Rise of Kingdoms, Lapulapu is a legendary Garrison commander. He has the Leadership, Garrison, and Skill talent trees. Lapulapu is a great commander for defending your city, but when it comes to other types of fighting like open field, garrisoning flags, or rallying, he is extremely ineffective.

Should you invest in Lapulapu?

No, you should not invest your commander sculptures in Lapulapu. It doesn’t matter if you are free-to-play or pay-to-win; it simply is not worth it. He is designed for city garrisoning, where you have mixed troops and there is a chance that players will swarm you. But let’s be realistic: when will your city actually be attacked? If you are careful and position yourself correctly on the map, your city will never be attacked. Additionally, allowing your city to get attacked is the worst thing you can do as a free-to-play player.

It is better to save your commander sculptures for future commanders or to invest in some current commanders who are overpowered and can be used effectively in the open field or for flag and structure garrisons.

When should I use Lapulapu?

There is a specific scenario where Lapulapu can be useful, and that is for your farm account or for baiting attacks on your city.

On a farm account, you typically do not fight but instead use it to fill flags and garrisons with troops, so you do not need strong commanders. This is when you can invest in Lapulapu to boost the protection of your city and reduce damage if you make mistakes that allow enemy players to attack your city.

There are also players who enjoy trolling, baiting, and provoking attacks on their city. If you are one of those players, then you can invest in Lapulapu.

Lapulapu Pairings

Heraclius is the best commander that you can pair with Lapulapu. They are both leadership and garrison commanders, and they have great synergy together. If you do not have Heraclius then you can use Gorgo but she is better for open field. There are not a lot of other options that are great for Lapulapu. If you do not have Heraclius or Gorgo, then you can use any AOE commander with Lapulapu.
