In Rise of Kingdoms, William Wallace is a legendary infantry commander. He has the Infantry, Versatility, and Smite talent tree.
Should you invest in William Wallace?
William Wallace is currently one of the strongest commanders in the game. This means that it does not matter if you are free-to-play, pay-to-win, or even if you are not focused on infantry—you should get William Wallace. Simply check out his skills, and you will notice how much damage he can deal.
He is excellent for open-field battles but is also great for rallying, giving you double value. If you are a player focused on infantry, you should especially consider getting him. Overall, William Wallace is overpowered, so we will definitely see high-end players using him in AOO and KVK.
William Wallace Pros and Cons:
- Reliable Performance: Consistently trades well in open field fights.
- Great for Duels: Excels in 1v1 combat scenarios.
- Versatile Talent Tree: Synergizes well with the Smite tree, offering unique rage debuffs.
- Budget-Friendly: Performs well even at 5515, saving sculptures.
- Future-Proof: Likely to age better with upcoming infantry Smite commanders.
- Lacks AOE Damage: Limited impact in group fights compared to meta commanders.
- Stat Deficiency: Offers fewer stats than Alexander the Great.
- Slower Movement: Perceived as less mobile in open-field battles.
- Not Game-Changing: Does not significantly outperform existing meta options like Liu Che/Alex or Guan/Scipio.
- Reliant on Pairing: Best results come with Liu Che, limiting flexibility.

William Wallace Pairings
Liu Che
If you get William Wallace, you should pair him with Liu Che. Liu Che is the best infantry commander in the game and simply dominates. If you are going to use this pairing, make sure to use Liu Che as the secondary commander so he can benefit from William Wallace’s Smite talent tree.
Scipio Aemilianus
For rally pairings, Scipio Aemilianus and William Wallace are an excellent choice. This pairing is insanely powerful and will dominate. While it can work in the open field, it is best suited for rallying.
